So NannyCraft arrived today with a package for the girls - some pieces from the Enchanted Fairy Garden (see links below) - so we decided to go all out and make a complete Fairy Garden.
Step 1: Find a shady quiet spot in the garden thats not going to get kicked over everytime someone walks past or the lawnmower does its thing.
Step 2: Create an enclosure - I chopped up some leftover tree branches to make a wall, and then filled the space with wood chippings. We also made a little gravel pathway.
Step 3 (Optional) - place any ornamental pieces you may have. Our 4yr old was determined that the fairy slide was actually a waterfall so that became the start of the river. The pieces we had from the Enchanted Garden were a seesaw, a bridge, millpond, slide and garden sign - all beautiful little pieces - I'm interested to see how long they hold up outside.
Step 4: Make the fairy house. This was my favourite part. I found a bigger tree branch, drilled out some windows and etched in the outline of a door. I then used a chisel to scrape off the bark for the door shape. Using a maker pen you can then add the door outline, letterbox etc.
Step 5: Enjoy.
