I grew up with cassette tapes and the development of CDs into digital formats. Whilst this was happening there has always been this, often smug, love affair with vinyl records, which I never understood. No, the sound is not crisper, you can't hear the rawness of the production. It just sounds like it's not been recorded properly.
However, I have since discovered, that I am just a different version of the Rolling Stones t-shirt, record-phile.
I have a new audio mantra... All communication should be via Apollo radio connections.
It is the coolest, most poignant sound there is. Imagine in this age of instant messaging and video calls, calling someone to invite them out for a beer with the aura of being in outer space echoing over the connection. Or discussing PPI with the gravitas of Armstrong, Lovell and Co.
I'm just going to leave this here. I am not religious in any way, but listening to this is about as close as I'll ever get...

ReplyDeleteEven as a vinyl junkie, I sometimes used to think this. Then I got the right turntable.
